Re: RSS Structural Screws
Cologne, 16.1.1998
After conducting extensive
tests involving your RSS Structural Screw, we have come to the following
conclusions:
-
The screw is easy to
install if installed with the proper (high torque power) machinery.
-
The torque resistance
during installation, especially toward the end, is subject to
experience, but generally tolerable.
-
Because of the RSS' sharp
point, the thread of the screw grabs instantly.
-
The screw head can easliy
be countersunk and can therefore be used in pre drill metal
applications.
-
The appearance of the RSS,
with the exception of the screw head, is that of the particleboard
screw. Hence, it is an easy addition to existing fastener options.
-
The RSS easily adapts to a
bending angle of 10 degrees caused by the limitations of the wood.
While removing the bent screw from the wood it straightens to its
original form.
-
Installation in the
hardwoods is possible without pre drillling. However, due to the
diameter of the screw this may cause the wood to split.
Overall performance: The RSS
Structural Screw appears to be exceptionally well suited for high weight
load, structural applications. Despite its large mass, the RSS is easily
installed and applied.
Sincerely,
Norbert Klewinghaus
